Description:SPEAKER: James M. Fitzsimmons – January 30   Senior Law Enforcement Advisor, Kosovo Counter Terrorism Unit Our Jan 30th speaker will be James M. Fitzsimmons, contractor for the US Government. His topic will be "The return of foreign terrorist fighters to the West from Syria and Iraq."   About James M. Fitzsimmons As a contractor for the US Government I am currently serving as a Senior Law Enforcement Advisor (SLEA), Kosovo Police-Counter Terrorism Unit. This assignment involves periodic location in the KP-CTU, Pristina, Kosovo and interaction with the unit’s executives, managers, supervisors and case officers. Scheduled to return to Pristina in October. Additional USG contractor assignments over the past 10 years include Team Leader and/or Staff Instructor for anti-terrorism assistance courses in over 20 countries including in Asia, Africa, Balkans, Middle East, Central Asia, South America, South Asia. In 2006, served in a USG assignment in Baghdad, Iraq as a mentor to executives and officers of the Iraqi Commission of Public Integrity (CPI). The CPI investigated organized crime and corruption cases. From 1978-2005, career FBI Special Agent, investigated drug enterprises and other criminal cases 1978-2001. In 2001, assigned to a Joint Terrorism Task Force until retirement in 2005. From 2003-2005 I was attached to the Intelligence Community for classified assignments in Pakistan, Afghanistan and GITMO. Collateral duties in the FBI included Crisis Negotiator, International Police Instructor, assignments as an undercover agent (UCA). USMC Infantry Officer 1968-1971. Platoon Commander, Vietnam. BS degree Seton Hall University   His topic will be: "The return of foreign terrorist fighters (FTF’s) to the West from Syria and Iraq."
