United Nations Day is celebrated every October 24 to commemorate the day the organization officially came into existence, back in 1945. Since the beginning, Rotary International has been an honorary UN member, reinforcing a partnership that goes back to its creation.

On the same day, we also celebrate World Polio Day. The day commemorates the birth of Jonas Salk, who led the first team to develop a polio vaccine. It is a time where we encourage people to join the Rotary campaign to eradicate this terrible disease.
